Suparn Verma, writer of Chhal

The movie Chhal is due for release on August 9. The story is about an undercover cop, Karan Menon, who goes on a mission to reach the inner recesses of the mafia and pass the information to the police, so that they can be prosecuted. He befriends the right hand man of the don. The don goes to Malaysia and the right hand man takes over the reins in India. But unknown to all, the don has bigger plans. And Karan's friends in the department believe a different story? Will the cop be able to get out of the web when he discovers that people in his own department are out to get him?

That is the broad outline of the film. And the person behind Chhal is Suparn Verma! .

Many might recall that Suparn Verma was a rediff.com staffer till last year, and had started The Rediff Chat besides holding the responsibility of Chat Jockey. Now Verma has moved on from journalism to pen stories, scripts, and screenplays for Bollywood, and Chhal is his first film.

Besides Chhal, Verma has also penned for Hansal Mehta's Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai, Feroz Khan's Janasheen, Harry Baweja's Qayamat, and Rohit Shetty's Zameen. And knowing Suparn Verma as we do, he must surely have some more ideas up his sleeve.
