Shweta Pandit, the voice behind the hit songs Chalte chalte and Pairon main bandhan hai in the film Mohabbatein, is a still a mystery. Her latest Bollywood chartbusters include Aap mujhe achche lagne lage from the eponymous film and Raju chacha, raju chacha from the film Raju Chacha.
The teenage singer comes from a family of musicians. Shweta trained in classical vocal music under her grandfather Pandit Pratap Narain and in light classical under her father Vishwaraj Pandit. She, incidentally, is the niece of music directors Jatin-Lalit and grandniece of Pandit Jasraj.
Music being her true love, Shweta wants to pursue playback singing on a big scale apart from cutting her own pop and devotional albums.
Being an ardent jazz and pop fan, Shweta swears by the music of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Shania Twain. She has also done a course in dancing under Shiamak Davar.
So what has been the experience of this young girl trying to make it in the extremely competitive profession of singing? What does she plan to do next? And what is it like working in the Bollywood music industry?
