Scorecard | Australia innings
Ramdin played some good cricketing strokes, but the batsmen at the other end were more intent on slogging. Dwayne Smith, after hitting Hogg for six, was also trapped lbw by the left-arm spinner on the very next ball. (172-7)
Jerome Taylor escaped a fatal decision, when he was ruled in by the third umpire. The batsman dragged his foot outside and replays showed his foot was on the line when the bails were dislodged, but Billy Bowden ruled the evidence was not enough against the batsman, turning on the green lights belatedly.
It wasn’t long before Taylor eventually made the trip to the pavilion. He was trapped lbw by Andrew Symonds while attempting a sweep. (199-8)
Ramdin, playing with a cool head, in contrast to his temperamental teammates, took the West Indies past 200 in the 44th over. He completed his half-century in 41 balls with a cut wide off third man for his sixth boundary. The wicket-keeper batsman was caught behind off Bracken, bowling from a shortened run-up, for 52. (216-9)
