US may issue pictures of dead Uday, Qusay

July 23, 2003 14:45 IST

American military commanders in Iraq on Wednesday said they would soon provide evidence, probably pictures, in support of their claim that Saddam Hussein's sons -- Uday and Qusay -- are dead.

The bodies, Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez., said have been flown to Baghdad's international airport from the northern city of Mosul.

He said the bodies were identified from multiple sources, and added "the bodies are in a condition where you could identify them."

But some Iraqis say doubts remain. "I don't believe they are dead because Saddam would never let his sons travel together," Nasheet Chalabi, who owns a grocery shop in Mosul, told Reuters.
