US bombs Kurdish convoy in northern Iraq

April 06, 2003 17:34 IST

In yet another case of 'friendly fire', an American jet has bombed a Kurdish convoy of eight to 10 cars, two of which contained US special forces, in northern Iraq, the BBC said on Sunday.

The BBC's world affairs editor John Simpson, who was travelling with the convoy, said he counted at least 10 bodies.

A senior Kurdish political figure was also injured.

Kurdish forces, backed by the US, are advancing on the cities of Mosul and Kirkuk, held by Saddam Hussein's forces.
