Pak to hand over top Al Qaeda functionary, former Taliban envoy to US

Pakistan has agreed hand over a top Al Qaeda functionary and a former high-ranking Taliban official to the United States.

Al Qaeda leader Ibn al Shaykh al Libi, who ran the terrorist organisation's training camps in Afghanistan, has reportedly been taken to Kandahar for questioning.

Meanwhile, Pakistani officials said that former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, who was arrested on Friday and is being detained in Peshawar, will also be handed over to the US.

Zaeef is a staunch supporter of Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammed Omar. He played an important role before and during the US strikes in Afghanistan in putting across the view of the Taliban leadership before the world during his tenure as the militia's ambassador to Pakistan.
