US bomb kills 10 Northern Alliance soldiers

At least 10 Northern Alliance soldiers were killed and several, including five Americans, were injured when a US bomb strayed and hit the alliance's position near Mazar-e-Sharif, SADA reported.

The soldiers were killed when US jets were sent to subdue a rebellion by Taleban prisoners at Uzbek warlord Rashid Dostum's headquarters in Qila Jangi.

The Taleban prisoners, who revolted on Sunday, pitched a battle from inside the fort-like compound being used temporarily by Dostum's forces.

Latest reports said bombings by US jets and Northern Alliance shelling had killed hundreds of prisoners and that the surviving Taleban fighters were still retaliating to the Northern Alliance's fire.
