US jets target Al Qaeda positions after surrender deadline breached

United Stated jets resumed bombing of Al Qaeda positions in the mountains around Tora Bora in eastern Afghanistan after they failed to keep a 0800 hours (local time) deadline to surrender.

Earlier, the Afghan Islamic Press had reported that the men loyal to Saudi extremist Osama bin Laden, holed up in Tora Bora region, have set certain conditions for their surrender.

The news agency said the fighters have demanded that they be handed over to the United Nations in the presence of diplomats from their respective countries.

Al Queda militants have been under relentless attack from US warplanes and Afghan ground forces since the start of December.
