Fourth plane may have aimed for
White House: Bush

United States President George W Bush on Tuesday said that the target of the fourth hijacked aircraft, which crashed in Pennsylvania on September 11, could have been the White House.

Referring to the fourth aircraft on which a passenger decided to confront the hijackers following which the plane crashed, Bush said, "His courage and self-sacrifice may have saved the White House."

In a speech to mark the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and Pentagon, Bush said, "It is a memory of tragedy and shock, of loss and mourning. But it is also a memory of bravery and self-sacrifice. Today, the wrong that was done that day is being righted and justice is being done."

"We still have far to go and many dangers lie ahead, but there can be no doubt how this conflict will end."
