Hindu sages have meditated at Pushkar since the beginning of time and few places in India are more sacred than Pushkar. A bath in the Pushkar lake is a very holy dip. Today some 42 bathing ghats and 400 temples stand at Pushkar, including one dedicated to Brahma.

This impressive mandir in Pushkar is the only temple in India where Brahma is worshipped. Legend has it that Brahma's consort Savitri was not present at the yagna. Since Brahma could not proceed in the absence of his spouse, he hastily married a local cowherd’s daughter, Gaytri.
