Leaders of the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday visited the Digahi village of Maharajganj district, where ten people were charred to death on March 11, and demanded judicial enquiry into the arson.
Terming Friday's Maharajganj incident in which ten people were charred to death, as an indicator of the prevailing jungleraj in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday demanded Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's resignation.
Nine persons, including five children, were on Friday charred to death and three others injured when some houses were set ablaze by villagers agitated over the murder of a village head in Thuthibari area of Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj district, police said.
