The FIH vice president Antonio von Ondarza will be present in an observer's capacity as Hockey India goes into a huddle on Monday to sort out its affiliation mess and take stock of the government guidelines before finalising its election date.
Armed with a Supreme Court ruling, Hockey India announced that it will hold its much-awaited elections, postponed four times in the past for various reasons, here on August 5.
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) lashed out at India's boycotting players, saying they got their priorities all wrong. FIH vice-president Antonio von Ondarza, also the world body's observer for Hockey India's elections, said staying away from a training camp before an important event like the World Cup was unheard of in the game's history.
After missing its November 20 deadline, Hockey India on Friday have been given one last chance to clear its mess before next year's World Cup with the FIH granting an extension upto first week of February to complete the national hockey body's election process.
