The Chilliyas marry early in life. Most of them are betrothed in their childhood itself. The wedding is solemnized when the couple reach their legal marriageable ages (18 for girls and 21 for boys).

Unlike most Indian weddings, where the bride’s parents are expected to bear the brunt of the expenses, the Chilliya groom and his family bear the financial cost of the marriage. No crackers or dancing is permitted in their weddings.
