Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to and congratulated Sumit Antil over a phone call, for winning gold and shattering the men's F64 category world record at the Tokyo Paralympics on Monday.

“India is proud of you. Despite the challenges you have faced in life you have won a gold. This feat will inspire and motivate the youth of our country. You have also done well to fulfil the dreams of your family. Once again heartiest congratulations to you and your fellow Indian medallists at the Paralympic Games.”

In his telephonic conversations, Modi told Avani Lekhara, who became India's first woman gold medallist at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo on Monday when she shot a total of 249.6 in the 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1, that ‘her achievement is a matter of great pride’.
