Leicester City secured a 2-1 win at Brentford in a pulsating Premier League game on Sunday thanks to goals from Youri Tielemans and James Maddison.
The result lifted Leicester up to ninth in the standings with 14 points, while Brentford dropped to 12th on 12 points from nine games.
Brentford were kept at bay by a combination of poor finishing and a string of saves by Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel before being caught out on the counter-attack for Maddison's 73rd-minute winner.
Defender Mathias Jorgensen flicked a header past Schmeichel at the hour mark to cancel out Tielemans' unstoppable first-half strike from 25 yards, but Maddison restored Leicester's advantage by tapping the ball into an empty net.
"We hammered a team in the first half that finished in the top five last season. They didn't have anything apart from a moment of luck or quality," Brentford manager Thomas Frank said after the game.
"Tielemans is very good, but he's not even scoring that 10 out of 100 times... We deserved to win."
The visitors took the lead against the run of play in the 14th minute after Rico Henry could only partially clear Maddison's free kick, with the ball falling to Tielemans who unleashed a stunning effort that flew past goalkeeper David Raya.
Ivan Toney was caught offside early in the opening period and saw his goal-bound header tipped over by Schmeichel later in the half, but Brentford deservedly equalised after the break.
The hosts pressed for a winner but Tielemans sliced the Brentford backline apart to put substitute Patson Daka, who had replaced Jamie Vardy, through on goal but the forward unselfishly teed up Maddison to claim his first goal since February.
Ten-man PSG drop points in Marseille stalemate
Ligue 1 leaders Paris St Germain dropped two points as they were held to a 0-0 stalemate at bitter rivals Olympique de Marseille after playing more than half an hour with 10 men amid minor crowd trouble on Sunday.
The game was briefly paused twice because of incidents involving OM fans after both teams had goals disallowed in an entertaining first half.
PSG, who had Achraf Hakimi red carded in the 57th minute, have 28 points from 11 games and lead RC Lens by seven points and Nice by nine.
Lens thrashed lowly Metz 4-1 while Nice claimed a thrilling 3-2 comeback win against 10-men Olympique Lyonnais.
Marseille, who will replay their game against Nice on Wednesday after it was abandoned after serious crowd incidents in August, are fourth on 18 points from 10 matches.
PSG thought they had an early goal when Luan Peres deflected Neymar's fluffed shot into his own net but a VAR review ruled that the Brazilian was offside.
It was then Marseille's turn to be disappointed after Arkadiusz Milik's goal was disallowed for an offside position.
The game was paused for three minutes when fans threw objects onto the pitch at a corner, putting pressure on Marseille after they were handed a suspended points deduction following crowd trouble in a game against Angers.
The visitors were dealt a massive blow just before halftime as midfielder Marco Verratti was forced off and replaced by Idrissa Gueye after taking a knock on his left hip.
The match took a sour turn for PSG when Hakimi was sent off for a foul on Cengiz Under as the last defender 12 minutes into the second half.
Valentin Rongier came close to opening the scoring in the 65th minute but his downward header went just wide.
There was more trouble for Marseille when a supporter ran onto the pitch towards Lionel Messi before being escorted out by stadium stewards.
PSG were left banking on counter attacks but the hosts stayed alert at the back with William Saliba saving the day for OM with a match-saving tackle on Kylian Mbappe, who was running clear on goal seven minutes from time.
Mbappe was the most dangerous player for his team as Messi had a night to forget, the Argentine's only chance coming in the first half with a header that went over the bar.
Alaba strike on Clasico debut gives Real Madrid 2-1 win at Barcelona
Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 in the first Clasico of the season in front of 86,422 fans at the Camp Nou on Sunday after a sensational strike from defender David Alaba and a late goal from Lucas Vazquez gave Carlo Ancelotti's side three points.
Victory was Real's fourth straight in Clasicos and also Ancelotti's first at the Camp Nou in six visits, with his side devastating on the counter-attack and the result moving them provisionally top of LaLiga with 20 points.
Barcelona controlled possession in the first half but Real took the lead when Alaba started a flowing move with a tackle and finished it at the other end with a left-footed drive from the edge of the box.
Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman brought on Philippe Coutinho at halftime while strikers Sergio Aguero and Luuk de Jong were also thrown on in the second half as they searched for an equaliser.
With seven minutes of injury time added on, Real doubled their lead when Marc-Andre ter Stegen saved a shot from Marco Asensio from another counter-attack but Vazquez was quicker than Gerard Pique to pounce on the rebound to score.
The home side got a goal back in the 97th minute when Sergino Dest crossed to the Aguero in the six-yard box and the Argentine tapped in for his first goal in a Barcelona shirt.
But it proved to be a consolation goal, leaving Barcelona five points behind in eighth place.
Suarez rescues point for Atletico against La Liga leaders Real Sociedad
Luis Suarez scored a second half brace as Atletico Madrid came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home against Spanish LaLiga leaders Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Imanol Alguacil's Sociedad took an early lead when Swedish striker Alexander Isak set up Alexander Sorloth in the seventh minute. Isak got on the scoresheet himself three minutes after halftime with a clinical finish from a set piece.
However, Suarez rose to meet a pinpoint cross from Joao Felix around the hour mark to inspire the home fans inside the packed Wanda Metropolitano.
The Uruguayan completed the comeback for the champions when he was fouled in the area 13 minutes from time and once the penalty was ratified by VAR, converted it with ease.
Sociedad remain top of standings with 21 points from 10 games, one point ahead of Real Madrid and Sevilla who both have a game in hand. Atletico are three points behind the leaders in fourth.
Dybala rescues point for Juve at Inter with late penalty
Juventus snatched a last-gasp 1-1 draw at champions Inter Milan in Serie A on Sunday after Argentine forward Paulo Dybala scored a penalty following a VAR intervention.
Massimiliano Allegri's side travelled to Milan in fine form having won their previous six games in all competitions, but soon fell behind as Inter striker Edin Dzeko fired home after Hakan Calhanoglu's shot had hit the post in the 17th minute.
The visitors piled on the pressure in the second half as they searched for an equaliser, but looked set to be frustrated after failing to create any clear cut chances.
However, Juve were handed a lifeline following a VAR review of a tackle from Inter's Denzel Dumfries on Alex Sandro, leading to the referee to point to the spot. Dybala grabbed the opportunity to fire in the equaliser in the 89th minute.
Inter were furious with the decision -- coach Simone Inzaghi was sent off for his protestations -- as they had to settle for a draw that left them third in the standings with 18 points, while Juventus climbed to sixth a further three points adrift.
