South Africa are in their second World Cup finals on the trot. A force to contend with, they turned in a disappointing performance at the African Nations Cup in 2000.

They have several quality players who ply their trade in the European leagues but lack match practice. Just as in France '98, they should offer token resistance against Spain, Slovenia and Paraguay.

Goalkeepers:
Andre Arendse, Calvin Marlin, Hans Vonk.

Defenders:
Matthew Booth, Bradley Carnell, Pierre Issa, Aaron Mokoena, Thabang Molefe, Cyril Nzama, Lucas Radebe.

Midfielders:
George Koumantarakis Delron Buckley, Quinton Fortune, Thabo Mngomeni, Bennett Mnguni, Teboho Mokoena, MacDonald Mukansi, Steven Pienaar, Jabu Pule, McBeth Sibaya, Sibusiso Zuma.

Forwards:
Benni McCarthy, Siyabonga Nomvete, George Koumantarakis.
