 About the Game

Swimming events comprise swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, and water polo.

Swimming
Medley races, races involving all different styles of swimming, are divided into individual and relay categories. An individual medley starts with the butterfly, followed by backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle.

Diving:
Divided into two main types for competition: springboard diving and platform diving. With the spring of the take-off board, springboard diving is suited to a graceful and supple style of diving. Platform diving starts at a high fixed point, and encourages divers to exercise dynamic form.

Established diving styles are straight position, pike position, tuck position and freestyle. By type of take-off and direction, diving is classified into forward dive, backward dive, reverse dive, inward dive, twist dive and armstand dive. There are 162 types of dives. The degree of difficulty each diver chooses for a contest is a focus of interest.

Synchronized Swimming:
The event will consist of figures and routines. The figure competition is a contest for compulsory basic technique, without the accompaniment of music. In the routine competition, solo or duet, swimmers exhibit free performances by combining various styles and figures. Musical accompaniment is required.

Water Polo:
Two teams, blue and white, of 7 players each try to score by throwing a ball into the opposing goal inside a court in a pool.

A game comprises 4 periods of 7 minutes each, with a two-minute break between periods to change sides. Players, except for goalkeepers, must handle the ball one-handed. A player with a ball in his hand can be attacked.
Groups:
 A Group  China, Japan, Korea
 B Group  Iran, Kazakhstan, Singapore
