 About the Game


In Asian Games, Artistic and Rhythmic events are held.

Artistic
Gymnasts compete for the championships on a team competition, all-around individual competition, and apparatus final. There are 6 events for men: floor exercises, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar; and 4 for women: vault, uneven bars, beam, and floor exercise.
Team competition
7 gymnasts selected by the NOC of each country/region are entered. Of the 7, 6 perform each event. Ranking is decided by the total scores of the top 5 gymnasts.
All-around individual competition
The top 36 men and 24 women gymnasts, selected on the basis of their team competition scores, perform to win the championship. Ranking is decided by total score for all events. Up to 3 gymnasts from each NOC are permitted to take part in the all-around individual competition.
Apparatus final
In each event, the top 8 gymnasts are selected on the basis of their team competition scores; they compete to win the championship of each event. Ranking is decided by the scores. Up to 2 gymnasts from each NOC are permitted to take part in the competition of each event.
Players compete in free exercise. Each gymnast can compose his/her own exercise freely on condition that it meets the requirements for movements and composition demanded by the scoring regulations. Players are demanded to display excellent and unique performances.

Rhythmic
Rhythmic gymnastics is being adopted at the Hiroshima Games for the first time in the history of the Asian Games. Gymnasts compete for the championship for individual combined exercises with total scores given for free exercises in the 4 events: hoop, ball, club, and ribbon.
Up to 3 gymnasts are allowed to take part in the competition from each NOC. The top 18 playes in the preliminary qualify for the final. However, only up to 2 gymnasts from each NOC can proceed the final.
