Shiv Kapur slips to fourth place in golf

Overnight joint leader and India's brightest medal prospect in golf Shiv Kapur slipped to the fourth spot with a disastrous three-over 75 in the second round of the indiviudal event at the Asian Games.

Kapur, who shared the lead with Chinese Taipei's Liang Chen Cheng with a two-under 70 in the opening round yesterday, carded bogies in six holes to slip in the leaderboard with a two round total of 145, behind Rohan Anura of Sri Lanka (71, 70), Cheng (70, 72) and H W Cheng, also of Taipei, who had a superb five-under 67.

In the team event, India, riding on the performance of Kapur and Manav Das, were in sixth place, with a score of 453, behind Taipei, Japan, Sri Lanka and Malaysia and Korea who shared the fourth place.

Among the other Indians, Manav Das was second best in 10th place at the halfway stage with a total of four-over 148 (74, 74). Das was in sixth place after round one.

The other two Indians Harendra Prasad Gupta and Keshav Mishra are languishing in 40th and 45th position respectively in a field of 65.
