Nitin Mongia leads in
OK Dingy sailing

Indian sailors performed reasonably well in the eight different categories of races, with Nitin Mongia leading the way in the OK Dingy section, at the 14th Asian Games in Busan on Thursday.

Mongia had just a point each in the two, of 11 races, held today. South Korea's H C Jin, with four points, V Puangnak (Thailand, 6) and H G S Chan (Singapore, 8) trail the leader.

In the Enterprise Open, Aashim Mongia and Mahesh Ramachandran collected four points in two, of nine, races, to be placed behind leaders J H Jun and G Geong of South Korea (2 points).

Rajesh Choudhary, the winner of the Asia Pacific Radial championship in Pattaya and seven-time national winner, was placed third after two races, with seven points.

In the Laser single-handed Olympic class (full rig) event, which is packed with experienced sailors including Ho Kon Kim (Korea), Kevin Lim (Malaysia), C Lin (China) and Kunio Suzuki (Japan), who finished in that order in the two races that took place.

India's Sandeep Srikanth is lying in fifth place, with a nine point penalty.

The Jani sisters from Mumbai, Riddhi and Aditi, finished in sixth and last but one position in the 420 women's section, while in the 420 men's event, which made its debut in the Games, India's Farook Tarapore, at the helm and his crew Vikas Kapila, finished in seventh spot.

In the Optimist class, India's Salil Sabir was in eighth position with 15 penalty points, while in the girls' section, Shilpa Oberoi finished in seventh spot with 14 points.
