India's hopes for squash medal end

India's hopes for a medal in the Asian Games squash tournament were dashed on Wednesday as all its three quarter-finalists lost their respective matches.

Joshna Chinappa and Vaidehi Reddy were beaten in the quarter-finals of the women's event while Ritwik Bhattacharya took his Malaysian opponent the full distance in men's event before going down.

Bhattacharya lost to Mohd Azlan Iskander 9-10, 6-9, 9-4, 9-5, 3-9.

Earlier, Chinappa lost to Lin Wee Ee of Malaysia 1-9, 1-9, 6-9 while Vaidehi went down to Lee Hai-Kyung of South Korea 6-9, 2-9, 1-9.

In the semi-finals, Lin Wee Ee will take on defending champion Nicol David, who scored an easy 9-5, 9-6, 9-1 win over Hong Kong's Ying Wai Ma while Lee Hai-Kyung will meet Hong Kong's Yin Chiu Wing.

In the men's semi-finals, top seeded Ong Beng Hee of Malaysia will play Shahid Zaman of Pakistan, while Azlan will take on Mansoor Zaman of Pakistan.
