I-League: JCT beat Air India 2-0

JCT Phagwara defeated Air India Mumbai 2-0 in the 16th round of the I-League football match played at Guru Nanak stadium in Ludhiana on Sunday. Both the goals were scored in the second half.

After the barren first half, JCT drew first blood in the 52nd minute when striker Eduardu De Silva was obstructed at the top of the striking circle resulting in a free kick.

Edu's powerful kick sailed into the net to put his side in the lead.

Midway through the second half, Daljit scored from almost mid field to consolidate the lead to 2-0.

Air India pressed hard to reduce the margin, but failed to translate the chances which came their way. With this victory the JCT has 29 points and Air India Mumbai 17.

Juliu Akpela was declared man of the match.

The next match between JCT and Mohan Bagan would be played here on February 26.
