The Russian Olympic silver medalist, who has reached the finals in six of her last seven tournaments while winning titles in Berlin, Los Angeles and Montreal, didn't give the Italian much space to assert her game.
Vinci did try to put up a challenge but Safina, who has won 34 of her last 37 matches and 17 of her last 18, won with ease.
