Prakash Amritraj reaped the rewards for reaching his maiden ATP quarter-finals, by registering a jump of 132 spots in world rankings.

Prakash, who entered the last eight at the Hall of Fame Championships at Newport, Rhode Island, in the United States, climbed from 467th to 335th in the charts.

The son of the former tennis ace Vijay Amritraj, Prakash beat Serbian Ilia Bozoljac and American Scoville Jenkins before going down to fifth seed Nicolas Mahut of France [Images] in the quarter-finals.

Prakash is the first Indian in eight years to reach the last eight of the tournament after Leander Paes [Images], who made it in 1999.

Karan Rastogi, who won the ITF Futures tournament in Morocco, is ranked 363rd, while Somdev Dev Varman, who reached the final of the Kennedy Funding Invitational in New York, is 1009th.

On the doubles side, Rohan Bopanna, who lost in the final of a Challenger event partnering Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas, jumped one spot to 233.

Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi [Images] took the week off after Wimbledon and stayed steady at ninth and 21st respectively.

There were no WTA events staged last week due to the Fed Cup semi-finals and Sania Mirza's [Images] singles and doubles rankings stayed at number 38.

Isha Lakhani, who lost in the finals of an ITF event in Thailand, is ranked 492nd.
