Sethi, Joshi to contest final

Strong favourites Geet Sethi and Devendra Joshi moved into the billiards final of the Shivaji Park Gymkhana All India Open Invitation tournament in Mumbai on Friday.

Former world professional champion Sethi outclassed Railway cueist K Venkatesham 1312-360, with as many as six breaks of over 100, the highest being of 372 which flatened his rival.

India number one Joshi started off with a century break against another seasoned campaigner Ashok Shandilya, before the latter conceded the tie soon after he had a break of 50.

Sethi and Joshi have also made it to the snooker quarter finals along with Manan Chandra, Aditya Mehta, Rupesh Shah, Kamal Chawla, Shandilya and Alok Kumar.

Results: Billiards (Semi finals): Geet Sethi bt B Venkatesham 1312 (58, 45, 48,, 122, 54, 113, 202, 129, 372)- 360; (77, 107); Devendra Joshi bt Ashok Shandilya 1123 (109) - 50 (50) conceded.

Snooker: Group B: Geet Sethi bt Neeraj Kumar 27-62, 53-54, 75-35, 71-3, 62-41. Group D: Rupesh Shah bt Siddharth Anand 47-39, 69-47, 66-7; Ashok Shandilya bt Dharminder Lilly 73-53, 60-44, 59-60, 53-42.
