Indian shooters went on a medal-winning spree, bagging four gold medals and one silver on the second day of the Australian Cup championships in Melbourne on Saturday.

Samaresh Jung claimed top honours in the men's air pistol event, firing 582 in the qualifying and 100.4 in the final rounds.

The silver also went to India, Vivek Singh shooting 579+99.9.

Harveen Srao was impressive with her performance of 485.7 (389+96.7) in the women's air pistol event at the venue where Commonwealth Games are slated for next month.

Pemba Tamang's effort of 575 followed by 192.7 in the men's fire pistol was enough for the top place finish while Joydeep Karmakar (581+103.1) won the men's rifle prone event.

The Indian shooters, who have been practising in Melbourne for the past 10 days, now tally six gold, three silver and one bronze in the competition, which they are using as preparation for the Games, beginning March 15.
