Leander Paes [Images] and Mahesh Bhupathi [Images] suffered first round defeats in different tournaments on the ATP Tour on Wednesday.
Paes, partnering Martin Damm of the Czech Republic, went down 3-6, 4-6 to wild cards Ramon Delgado of Paraguay and American Rick Leach in the US $600,000 event in Washington.
Bhupathi, pairing with Chris Haggard of South Africa at the 645,000-euro event in Kitzbuhel, Austria, lost 4-6, 6-3, 5-10 to Germany's [Images] Philipp Kohlschreiber and Stefan Koubek of Austria.
