Sania-Shikha lose doubles

The Indian challenge in the doubles event at the WTA Hyderabad Open came to an end on Thursday when the pair of Sania Mirza [Images] and Shikha Uberoi crashed out in the quarter-finals.

The Chinese pair of Zi Yan and Jie Zheng prevailed over the Indians, winning 7-5, 6-1 to advance to the semi-finals.

They will take on Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan and Tatiana Panova of Russia [Images], who had little trouble in making the grade, as their opponents Martina Navratilova and Ana Lena Groenefeld conceded the match following a knee injury to the latter.
