Bindra wins gold in Germany

Displaying superb skill, Indian marksman Abhinav Bindra scored 704 points to win the air rifle gold in the Sportland NRW Cup ISAS-2003 shooting competition in Dortmund, Germany on Sunday.

The high score by Bindra also helped him lift the prestigious Sportland NRW Cup.

Bindra, the world junior record holder, shot a brilliant score of 599/600 in the preliminary round and then led the field with a spectacular score of 105 for a top-place finish among 98 shooters.

Vitali Bubnovich of Germany claimed silver while the bronze medal was won by Dick Boschman of the Netherlands.
