India's Mahesh Bhupathi and partner Max Mirnyi of Belarus ended the year as the second-ranked doubles pair in the world.

The duo had a very good year and won as many as five Masters events (titles at Canada, Estoril, Madrid, Monte Carlo, Moscow) but success eluded them in the Grand Slams. Their best performance in a Grand Slam was at the All England Championships, where they reached the final before going down to Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden and Todd Woodbridge of Australia.
