India doubles ace Leander Paes, who has been diagnosed as having a cyst in the brain, is stable, the doctor attending said.

"Paes is stable. We are testing mainly for bacterial infection," Clarence Brown, the President Chairman of the MD Anderson Cancer Centre said on Wednesday.

The 30-year old Paes first checked himself into an emergency facility near his Orlando home on Sunday after experiencing severe headache for three days.

Tests revealed a lesion in left occipital region of the brain and he was subsequently moved to MD Anderson hospital.

Brown refused to make any further comments but did not rule out the possibility of a tumor.

"It would not be proper to make any comments before the results are known, but a tumor is not ruled out," he said.

Brown said the results would be known in the next 24 hours.
