Bhupathi-Mirnyi in US Open
doubles final

Max Mirnyi recovered from Wednesday's gruelling four-set quarter-final defeat to Andre Agassi in the U.S. Open singles to storm into the final of the doubles, playing two matches in one day, on Thursday.

Partnering Indian ace Mahesh Bhupathi, the duo defeated defending champions Wayne Black and Kevin Ullyett of Zimbabwe 7-6, 5-7, 7-6 in the quarter-finals before ousting American twins Bob and Mike Bryan 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in the semis.

They next meet the Czech duo of Jiri Novak and Radek Stepanek, who upset fourth seeds Jonas Bjorkman and Todd Woodbridge 6-2, 7-6 to reach their first Grand Slam final as a team.
