Indian team for hockey World Cup on Jan 31

The Indian team for the hockey World Cup, to be held in Kuala Lumpur from February 24 to March 9, will be announced on January 31.

The 25 probables, led by Baljit Singh Dhillon, are undergoing a preparatory camp at the astro turf stadium in Chennai since January 5.

Even as the Indian Hockey Federation is gearing up for its election of office-bearers on January 27, at Guwahati, IHF president K P S Gill, who is also the chairman of the selection committee, along with secretary K Jyothikumaran and a few former Olympians, had a preliminary assessment of the probables.

According to Jyothikumaran, the camp will conclude on January 29 and the team will be named two days later in Delhi.

The selected players will leave for Kuala Lumpur in the first week of February.
