Drugs seized at Sydney airport

Australian customs detained a member of Uzbekistan's Olympic delegation at Sydney airport on Thursday for carrying an illegal drug, an Olympic official said.

Jacques Rogge of the International Olympic Committee told reporters he did not yet know what drug the team member was carrying.

Australian customs identified the substance as performance-enhancing human growth hormone but did not give the nationality of the team member.

"The Australian Customs Service has detained a small quantity of what appears to be human growth hormone after it was found in the baggage of an Olympic team official at Sydney airport today," customs said in a statement.
