Message:I was not really surprised to hear this news at all. This may be true or may not be true. But I believe this could be handled by our BCCI in the same way Manoj Prabakar's allegation was handled. Keep everything secret and finally judge no body is involved in match fixing. Whatelse you can expect from these corrupt autonomous bodies.
I had a doubt when SA lost their final of TITAN cup after winning all of their preliminary matches comprehencive manner.
Personaly I believe, the present Indian team can not win matches and can only win, if someone is willing to lose.
In this particular case, there I have some serious doubts about some of our players integrity. Esp. some of the recalled numbers...
As a public or a cricket fan, I have already started ignoring this game. I have made atleast 100 cricket fans to turn into my side. Better, all of the Indian public ignore this gambling Cricket and concentrate on self-improvements...Would save lots of time too....
Thanks

What if the bookmakers were trying to convince someone else that they have Cronje and few key SA players "bought in" and were using somebody else as Cronje on the phone ????
As they say, the proof is in the pudding and we have not seen the pudding yet.

There is an urgent need to address this issue on a war footing. While the job of curing the symptoms ( Punishing the guilty)should be left to the respective boards, ICC should get to the root cause of the disease and take all steps to eradicate this evil.

These hardworking people slog
out the entire youth to entertain us and we instead
of being grateful to them for
the wholesome and non-stop enetrtainment that they provide to us, make frivolous
allegations against them!!!
It would be a great service
for the country if Delhi police can nab the criminals
who routinely steal our cars,
rob our households, kill our
neighbours, extort our businessmen instead of making
intangible efforts to get
cheap publicity.
Do you think a professional scamster would
be foolish or naive enough to
talk to a cricketer allegedly
his partner in crime through
a hotel telephone line? The
South Africans are acclaimed to be Net savvy. They would rather use an internet messenger to set up the deal
instead of telephone which
our police department shamelessly taps.
I am deeply hurt by the
controversies surrounding
the game of cricket. It is
easy to throw dirt on men with
white clothes. You don't loose anything by doing so!The sad part of the story is the taint remains on the clothes for no fault of the gentlemen wearing them. Herchelle Gibbs must be wondering whether he had sinned in his previous incarnation!

Message:Why is the white man's word always important to Indians? Why is that an Indian cricket fan would believe a Tony Greig with a quarter the number of runs that Sunil Gavaskar made and lap up all he says , quote a Boycott and think Sachin Tendulkar is better only because he says so? Why are the views of Peter Roebuck on who the greatest batsman is than Harsha Bhogle's. Why is it very easy for us to believe Mark Waugh and Shane Warne who blamed Salim Malik ? And why is it so difficult for Indians to think that there might be some truth to what Manoj Prabhakar has been saying for 5 years now? And why now should there be any disbelief among Indians that Hansie Cronje fixed matches? Why does Mr.Lele have to go on record rubbishing the claims of the Delhi Police? Does he not realise that it's a Police department in his own country? Why is it not so hard for us to think that Mr.Cronje is a man of integrity ? If the South Africans make such claims , they are justified. If Indians express contempt for their law-enforcement systems , it's foolish. Does it occur to the people that people are the same everywhere? Raised in an affluent country does not automatically mean that person cannot be lured by the charm of money and earning it by dishonest means. Remember messers Warne and Waugh. Remember the wily ACB which swept the matter under the carpet? Think what might have been the case if the Aussie police or South African police named an Indian or Paksitani player? The entire cricketing world would have called for the head of the player. Think about it. Never distrust anything Indian!

Message:I think that there is something behind all this.
Delhi police is not bunch of kids that will play games but they certainly have some hard proof then only they have alleged such a great player.
Though I know even if the charges are proved Hansie Cronje and other accused will get away bec' of theyu are WHITE in color and belong to the so called civilized world and International community.
I am pretty certain about it that no action would be taken against Mr.Cronje IF he is involved in such a thing because of the racial discrimination in ICC and if MR.JAGGU takes any action then he will be criticized by the WHITE cricketers (remember About Mr.Warne and Mr.Waugh and about the Shoaib Akhtar issue).
Also at the same time we must take care about our Indian gods the Bunch of 11 that represent this great country but but insult that very great country for money.Just go back a few days back to Sharjah where the Indian Team Won only 1 match and also the one day series in India with SA.
There is clearly an indication in the conversation between Cronje and Chowla that some of the Indian players or the whole Team had been buyed out.Aslo in the Sharjah Tournament the match between India and SA was fixed because If u remember Mohd.Azharuddin's dismissal where he had'nt stretched and was run out.
So, I think that Indian players are certainly involved in this business for which to some extent the blame goes to the BCCI and red tapism.Delhi police should even take action against the Indian players because in more that many occassions they have got out purpousely and whether that is Sachin Tendulkars or Gangulys or any one they should be punsihed with life ban and nothing less that that.
I think then only some discipline would creep into cricket and help in making it a global game if the ICC takes tough decisions NOW.

Message:We won't get to hear the truth.
There's no way in the world it'll happen.
Know why?
Because here we are, dealing with a game
that speaks of good values, of its players
being thorough gentlemen. And we're used to
it. We believe that cricket is indeed a
clean game. Infact, to many of us, it's more
than that. If it's not a religion, it's something
we relate ourselves to, to help us stand up. We
look towards the game for motivation. How many of
us have felt a little low, and after watching India
win, reach a mental high? How many people take
inspiration from fightbacks by the team, saying that
if they can do it on the ground, I can do it with my
life.
Now look at it from South Africa's point of view. The
game is more than just big, over there. It is inspiration
for a nation that has faced troubled times. They found
a way to release these frustrations, by playing sports.
And Hansie is an icon over there. Everyone looks up to him.
He isn't just a captain. He is South African cricket. He's
also rugby, football, hockey, etc. What kind of an effect
would it have on the nation if they found out that they'd been
duped? It wouldn't depress them. It would take away that
one thing they believed in. That South African sport, and this
man, Hansie, played for pride, and nothing else. Which in turn
will discourage them. It's a bit like being an atheist. When you have
nothing to believe in, there's a bit of an empty feeling. And when
you're down, you won't look at the money-hungry team for inspiration.
Far from it.
And keeping this in mind, do you think the SA administrators will let
the public know what's going on? No! They've worked too hard and come
this far, not to throw it all away! It'll be dealt with behind
closed doors, within walls without ears. So no one knows what actually
happened. They might inflict some punishment on the guilty, but the
public will not know.
Look, guys..... I love the game just as much as the next guy, and I'm torn
between two things. Should everything be made public, so we know what exactly
goes on? Or should they deal with it privately, making sure it never ever happens again?
All you guys out there, on the verge, losing hope, ready to give up the game....think again.
Bad stuff happens all the time. Are you going to turn your back to it just because you don't
like what's there? Just give it some time.

Message:Now that everyone knows that cricket matches are fixed, I hope we Indians will soon get rid of madness about cricket, so that it will not destroy proper communication in families. Recently, a husband's habit of getting glued to the TV screen watching cricket matches drove his newly married wife so desperate that finally she commited suicide. Honestly, it is not worth wasting time watching those jokers!
Finally the Indian cricketers undo with absolute disregard, the great job done by our armed forces on the battle field. It is time to re-evaluate our priorities in life.
Why can't we use our time, resources and energy in building more Infosys and Wipros. Let us hope that better sense prevails upon us soon.

I grew up watching the likes of Gavaskar, Bedi, Vishwanath, Mohinder... the list goes on and fine it utterely ... no, I don't have words to describe my feelings. Now I think the lovers of this wonderful game should steel themselves up for more and more dirt to come out. I feel the sooner it happens and more names they find, the better. It is time for an extensive cleanup. Let us get rid of all those conniving villains who wouldn't mind selling their own country's pride for a fistful of dollars, no matter how great they may be. Let honest newcomers be taken into teams and let us all begin watching games knowing that what we are watching is the gentleman's game. I would prefer watching a relatively unknown player if he is honest, than those who are under the shadows of suspision no matter how skillful they are. Long live the game of cricket!

Message:Hi,
The delhi police may have truth in their claims. But on a global scale
was it reponsible of them to make their discoveries headlines,
therby causing immense embarrasement to ICC governing body
which is having a cricket week now. Did they think of how the
game's credibility would suffer. Now the pressure is on the Delhi
police to convince the world about this. The RSA board and their
public are going to back their players at all costs.
It is a national embarassment for them to accept this, if this is true.
We would do the same thing with equal passion.
so In reality what would happen is the respective press
of the country go their own way to outrightly support their country
irrespective of what the truth is, therby widening the gap between
the two countries and putting the indians in RSA to further discomfort,
as if they havent had enough of it already.
C'mon people ! accept the reality, the Delhi police, by hastily
trying to create sensation and headlines have created one more
infinite loop in this cricket world. No decision will be made
in this regard at any point of time in the next 1000 years.
because all countries are equally powerful and will treat this
issue just like how kashmir is treated in the subcontinent.
After some time this issue will be forgotten. And things(including
betting) will be back to normal again. These people who bet will
be on forever. you cant whitewash them in public, who knows ..
this betters list might contain our well know players.
what heppens if a lead in this scandal point to azhar or
even our Jagmohan Dalmiya. It will be made sure that all
evidence and Police will be buried either by money or force.
These Indian Cricket Board is an all PowerFul organisation.
The business magnets behind this board know it all...
the betting etc..all of it. they arent going to let this
scandal come to public.
Instead what the delhi police could have done is this, they could
have silently informed the cricket authorities of their discovery
and the Indian cricket authorities could have asked
the south african board to ease out hansie without
public embarrasemnet (which is what was probably meant to happen
in azhars case but luckily he managed to escape)
I know this tactic could in all probability lead to under the table
dealings with the police and this case could be shut up.
But we have to rely on the conscientiousness of the police bacause ,
to tell you the truth!!, we have nothing else to rely on.
We cannot be sure if after making this case public the police
would behave themselves. We might even now see this case
getting swept under the carpet and not doing anything about it.
How long can the press shout. after sometime something new will
come up and the press will forget about this issue.
So the Delhi police could have atleast prevented from this outburst
of hatred by the RSA people against indians, By acting quitely.
Its a cardinal rule in managing affairs like this , that truth
is more dangerous than a lie. the public though entitled would be
much safer from knowing the truth. Truth creates a lot of instability
and chaos. Unfortunately we have too much corruption in all our systems
, which has lead to this unpleasant situation. Instead
of trying to kid ourselves that there is going to be a mass enquiry
and all guilty be punished, and everything is going to continue happily
everafter. lets all be practical and hope that someday a nuclear
Holocast would swipe this entire system away and we would begin afresh.
hey I know! I sound ridiculous but so do you!!!!!
Sincerely
A disgusted Soul
