Steve Waugh's "caught and bowled" dismissal in the second innings off the bowling of Saqlain was his second such dismissal of his career. This was the second occasion in his career he was dismissed in this manner. The first occasion was also against Pakistan at Faisalabad in 1988-89 when Shoaib Mohammad had him dismissed "caught and bowled".

Ricky Ponting, who recorded the first duck of his career in the last Test match at Brisbane after 44 innings, scored two more in this match to bag a pair. He now has three ducks in a row.
