Statistical Highlights 5th match : Zimbabwe v Sri Lanka at Harare on 19-12-99

It was Zimbabwe's 26th match this year. It equals the maximum matches played by it in a calendar year. In 1998 it had played in the same number of matches.

Indika Gallage became the 103rd Sri Lankan to appear in LOIs.

Bryan Strang was making a come-back after a gap of two years and two months and after missing 51 matches in between for Zimbabwe. He last played against Kenya at Nairobi (Gym) on 19-10-1997 in the Kenyan Three Nation tournament.

The catch of deSaram was the 43rd for Grant Flower in 113 matches. This equals the record for the most catches by a Zimbabwean fielder held by Alistair Campbell.

Flower has now held 12 catches in 29 matches on Zimbabwean soil, the maximum by any fieldsman. He has one more catch than Campbell.

The 53 by TM Dilshan was the highest score made by a Sri Lankan number six against Zimbabwe. The previous highest was the 36 by Hashan Tillekeratne at Sharjah on 8-4-1997.

The three dismissals (all catches) by Andy Flower was the maximum taken by any Zimbabwean fielder against Sri Lanka in LOIs.

Andy Flower now has 51 dismissals (43ct+8st) in 29 matches as a keeper on Zimbabwean soil.

Guy Whittall's three wickets has taken his tally of wickets to 33 (avg 24.09) in 23 matches, which the maximum by any bowler in LOIs on Zimbabwe soil. He surpassed the previous tally of 30 wickets (avg 20.63) in 16 matches by fellow Zimbabwean Heath Streak.

Whittall now has 24 wickets at this venue which is the maximum by any bowler. He went past the tally of 21 wickets of Streak.

The 94 runs partnership between Alistair Campbell and Grant Flower was Zimbabwe's best against Sri Lanka for the first wicket in LOIs. The previous best was the 91 runs between the same pair in the 2nd match of this series at Bulawayo on 12-12-1999.

The run-out of Andy Flower was his 14th such dismissal in LOIs. He now equals the tally of Guy Whittall who has the same number of run-outs - the maximum by a Zimbabwean batsman.

Guy Whittall's 3 wickets for 37 runs and an unbeaten 37 was the second best all-round performance by a Zimbabwean against Sri Lanka. The best of 30 runs and 4 for 35 was achieved by Whittall himself at Bulawayo in the second match of this series on 12-12-1999.

The man of the match award was Guy Whittall's third in LOIs in 113 matches. His previous two awards came against Sri Lanka at Sharjah on 8-4-1997 and Kenya at Nairobi (Gym) on 12-10-1997. Whittall now joins Eddo Brandes as the only other Zimbabwean player to receive two awards against Sri Lanka.

This was Zimbabwe's first win in the last ten matches, which includes one no-result match.

Zimbabwe in the last 16 matches has lost 12 and have won just two matches (including this one).
