Ponting ready for Test

Ricky Ponting will play in Friday's first cricket Test between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval.

Australia's No 6 batsman said the back strain will not affect his batting though it will not permit him to bowl.

Ponting's back ailment flared up in Hobart during the recent four-day Sheffield Shield match against South Australia and looked like keeping him out of action for a couple of weeks. However, on arrival at Adelaide yesterday, he said he is feeling well again.

''I was really restricted in my movements down in Hobart but it seems to have loosened up a bit and I'll be ready to go by Friday. I'll have a bit more treatment while I'm here and it should be fine,'' he said.
