Mohammad Azharuddin debate

Elil Raj: earulraj@aol.com: Azhar should be retained as he is not only all time great batsman but also the most succesful captain of India

Sambhu Laxman: sambhu@rocketmail.com: nay

rIZVIN: RIZVIN@HOTMAIL.COM: YES,HE SHOULD BE RETAINED IN THE SIDE,IF HE IS MEDICALLY FIT,TILL HE RETIRES

Zafar: zafar@cyberway.com.sg: Yes. Azhar should be given a chance if he is fit to play, because there are no other players left on the side with such a vast experience. Remember experience matters when young talents fail. Remember the match between us (India) and Pakistan in recent World Cup 1999

Anoop Muhammed: anoop_mohd@hotmail.com: Yes,he should definitely be retained until he feels he cannot do it anymore.Considering his past there is no reason why he cant do it again.

manoranjan: manorangan_p@hotmail.com: Hi Harsha, It is nay. Bye

Mounesh: mounesh@hotmail.com: Congrats Gavaskar for the half century.... And my suggestion to Azhar is - Please PACK UP.

sanjeev: sanjeev_a@rediffmail.com: Azar is a tiger and will come back with a roar!!!!

J.K.Niyogi: jkniyogi@yahoo.com: Azar is still good ebough to play in the Indian team for atleast a year more.

sameer gokhale: aseemj@vsnl.com: i think azar has been a wonderful captian for India all these years but the new generation must be given a chance. It high time he did that.

Arijit Bhattacharya: arijitb@home.com: Yay! He should be there in the team as a batsman - he will perform well without the captaincy burden.

Nikhil Sharma: sharma_nikhil@hotmail.com: As much as I hate to say this, having been an avid Azhar fan all these years, it is probably beyond him to face the likes of McGrath and Donald for an extended period of time. His magnificient handling of spin and pace alike, coupled with those seemingly easy wristy flicks command respect, but all good things must come to an end. It will not be easy for the selectors to pick someone new with paralleled class.

Sridhar: panatula@hotmail.com: It is not only records but he is a capable batsman. he deserves a chance the burden of captaincy might have weighed on his batting as well. Now as a regular he will be more responsible and will render the needed services as a senior player he will back the team.

Gregory Azavedo: greg_az@hotmail.com: Why are we always so harsh and forcing our criketers into early retirement while they are in the twilight of their careers. Its happened in the past with Vensarker, Gavaskar, Shastri , Kapil etc.. I beleive Azhar has done enough to deserve to decide on his retirement rather than being unceremoniously dropped from the side. So what if we did not fare well in the 1999 world cup , lessons have been learnt from that experience and Azhar has been relinquished from the captaincy. But yet one should never forget Azhar's acheivements as both Captain & Batsman and his quicksilver feilding to top it all. Give the Man another chance and Iam sure he will be able to hang his boots in Glory.

Shailesh: shaileshjoshi@hotmail.com: I feel that Azahar is not failing as a captain but surely as a batsman, strictly speaking this Indian side have such high quality batting that Azhar in middle order looks a bit fragile

vivek: vivpr@hotmail.com: YayNay !! Azhar should be asked if he wishes to continue and he should say yay or nay.

Vaithia nathan: nathan@csah.com: We need him for an another year We need his experience We want to see Azhar's career at happier end For all this Azhar shoud be in the side not in the sidelines

Srikanth Mahalingam.: srikanth_m@hotmail.com: Hi Harsha, I strongly believe that an extrovert and a motivational man only solve the captaincy issue. In this perspect I will not vote for Azharuddin. I will not even vote for Sachin as he is not a Jovial in character but very serious while playing. If you think of Jaddu, he is expert in every aspect of the game. Just one match in Sharjah will tell us how serious he is all about in taking decisions and showing captaincy right from the front. Anyway selectors think other way. If it works well its good for Cricket and so is our country....! Do you accept.. bye

Mohan Das: mohan@india.hp.com: There is no way Azhar is going to be dropped from test team as yet. As Harsha rightly mentioned, he is still the fittest in the Indian team and no one can doubt his undoubted talent. Go for 25th Century in MCG and retire Azzu! All the best !

SHARATH MOHAN: MSM_61@HOTMAIL.COM: AZHAR HAS TO BE GIVEN ANOTHER CHANCE; AS HE IS STILL ONE OF THE FINEST BATSMEN IN CONTEMPORARY CRICKET.AS GAVASKAR ALWAYS USED TO SAY, "FORM IS TEMPORARY;BUT CLASS IS PERMANENT".I AM SURE HE IS GOING TO COME BACK STRONGER AND FITTER.I WISH HIM ALL THE BEST.

Mohammad Ahmar Siddiqui: ahmar.siddiqui@emirates.com: Yes, he should be in the side, Because he is still best at the field, if he doesn't do good with the bat but he is still a asset as a fielder.

Amar R G: amarrg@poboxes.com: Azhar must be given atleast one series to peform as a batsman without the burden of captaincy. This ploy worked wonders on Sachin and it may also work with Azhar. Though Azhar right now is definitely not good as far as captaincy is concerned he is still a good batsman (undoubtedly in poor form). Give him a break guys !!

Bipin Jacob: bipinjacob@rediffmail.com: Of course Azhar should continue in the team. Show me one other fieler who can match him in fitness or fielding. And he's sure to get back that wonderfully, graceful yet destructive touch.

rafiq sait: rosco@xlweb.com: yes, azhar must be in the team. good for him that he is not the captain.

Viswanathan Shankar: vshan@hotmail.com: Azhar deserces another chance. He cannot be dropped atleast till this year end...i.e. the decision to drop him can be taken only before the team to Australias ia picked. We have to be patient indealing with a great cricketer who will need time to prove that it was the captaincy pressure that hit his form and that he is still among the very best in the country.

Rajan B.L.K.: rajanblk@usa.net: Azhar should be taken into the team definitely. Now that the presure of capitancy is off his shoulders, one shouldn't be surprised if he is back in form and the coming series being in the sub-continent, it will be more friendly for an experienced player like Azhar.

Madhav Nair: madhavn@bigfoot.com: Yay, Yay, Yay for Azhar continuing. No two ways about it !!

Francis: francis_dsouza@yahoo.com: Yes, Azharuddin has to be persisted with in the team. He is anytime a better player than a Jadeja or a Khurasiya. He is fit for the middle order unless he is unfit physically. He has had these lean patches and will come out good in the Srilankan and Singapore wickets. The selectors should select him and wait for his fitness certificate/test. If found fit he should be given a chance. The selectors have done this in the past for other players (giving them chance to prove their fitness). Yes, azhar has to be given a chance and he should be seen in the next two or three tournaments. If he comes good, that will be good for him and the nation. If he fails, then they can drop him forever, in fact he will take his own decision. Moreover, with the 'burden' of captaincy no more on him, azhar would perform very well. The last time he was not the captain he was accused of playing very carelessly. That could have been possible, because although he was not the captain, but his palce in the team was NOT in danger. But this time he cannot afford to be careless (if he was the last time) because this time he will be judged series by series. Although he has the ability to handle such pressure it remains to be seen how he copes with it, this time. Yes, keep him in the team. He will surely pass the 10,000 mark on LOI. Best of luck Sachin, Azhar and INDIA !!!!!

tina: jayd@bom5.vsnl.net.in: Azhar should not be kicked out of the team . He was and is one of the most graceful player of our times. His famous flick on the offside can find no match. Leave him alone to get back to form. Please let not the press hound him about his form and force him to retire before his time. retire prematurely. He will Leave the scene when he wants to.Don't ask him to leave.

U. Shailesh: shailesh_u@hotmail.com: He should be retained in the team for some more series, because a bad patch in a players career is not its end. His track record is superb and he is undoubtedly a class batsman.

Ayush : agni_x@usa.net: No he should be out of the team. Time to bring in new players. Start afresh and work towards the future.

rami reddy: : hi azar.. take rest laa.. Rami Reddy singapore

Riz: rizwan@rediffmail.com: My opinion says that he should be taken in Indian team.As he's no longer captain he may play better cricket as we have witness the same case when Sachin was captian. He's the best fielder and great batsman. He's one of the most succesful captain India has ever produce and not to forget the kind of team we have senior players are important otherise it will be difficult. Thanks

laxman64@hotmail.com: Singapore: Azhar should be in the side.

vikas chawla: VikasC.HG@lifung.co.in: sachin, have faith and do your best. good luck

Ramana: muralic@homail.com: There are few things. 1. He is not a good team man. As he is dropped from the cap., he may still widen the gap between himself and fellows. Which means he is a loner just joining the team on the field. I don't think that is a good idea. 2. May be as Harsha says we can try him out in the next three months and see if it works. But I personally feel he should retire now. And I pray god he does it on his own.

M.iqbal: drmiqbal@hotmail.com: yay

syed fayazuddin: sfayaz@hotmail.com: HE should be selected for the team and there is nodoubt that he is the best batsmen in the whole team and the worst is the present captain

ramesh: mariaramesh@hotmail.com: Azar should not be dropped,he should be allowed to leave in a graceful manner.

sameer: yes:

soumya: soumyam99@usa.net: Please write something about our new captain's second innings.

Anand: anand@gateway.net: yay

Kishore Reddy: kish_tn@hotmail.com: Azhar should play as he proved time and again that form is temporary where as class is permanent. He is the classiest of all the contemporary batsmen and it is only a matter of few innings before he again will be plundering with his bat. Come on Azhar

yay: rameshkr@hotmail.com: Azar!!!!!! What a great feeling i used to have, some time (may be long)back. Not any more. When we remember him in the future, i want to have a great feeling not a bad one. So,pl say bye bye..Now.

Venkat: vvwwindsor@hotmail.com: Dear Sachin, Wish you all the very best for and make all indian's proud.

viji: nviji@hotmail.com: Azza should be there in the team

syedjafferquadri: jaffer_quadri@hotmail.com: AZHAR BHAI AS NOW YOU HAVE ALMOST COMPLETED YOUR CAREER SO STEP DOWN HONOURABLY.AND PREPARING FOR "AKHIRAT".

johan: johan@rediff.com: I THINK THAT AZHAR IS , WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE GREAT PLAYER, AND SHOULD BE GIVEN AT LEAST ONE MORE CHANCE.

seshu bhagavathula: seshu@dbrci.blr.DaimlerBenz.COM: Yes, Azhar should be given the chance to play some more mathces. As you pointed out, he is known to come back.

Manojendu Choudhury: manojulu@tifr.res.in: NO, in bold letters. Azhars presence in the team will be a trmendous setback to the team spirit as it has been for the last six/seven years. His involvement in the betting and match fixing scandal was perhaps the main reason for it. His presence seems to have a negative effect on the players, it was never so more evident than at Shrjah, just beofre the World cup. The team was bouyed up under Ajay Jadeja and simply lost all desire to play as soon as Azhar returned. It will take a long note to explain why Azhar has so much of negetive influence on India cricket, so I will just mention the facts and not try to substantiate it. Azhar had enormous natural talent as a batsman and has always exploited that to remain in the team and has had perhaps the greatest share of luck in his cricketting career as a batsman and as a captain than most of all human beings enjoy in their lifetime, but even his lady luck seems to be deserting him right now, so th only thing that he had in his favour is no longer there, there is absolutely no reason to call him back.

Ravindra Prabhala: ravindra.prabhala@sap.com: It is Yay for one last time .... After all he deserves it.

Gopi: gopijayaram@hotmail,com: Azhar should be in the team. Let him take sometime to think where and why he went wrong, without any responsibility. He still has a wonderful batting style and power.

priten: manthan@bom4.vsnl.net.in: NAY!!

raghu bagalwadi: r_bagalwadi@hotmail.com: Azhar should know that one can be a great player with out being a great captain. There are many who shine brilliantly in individual effort, but are not so outstanding in leading a team. There is nothing to be apologetic about it. Nothing can take away from the great innings that he has played over the years. He may concentrate on his batting and fielding play a few more good knocks in the next one year or so and retire. This is necessary for younger aspirants to get a chance. I am sure financially he is well placed and this one year time he can use to consolidate on that front. the nation will be thankful to him if can use future to prepare youngsters for the national team and contribute in other ways for the growth of the game in India

i.d.patel: billing@ncc.moc.kw: Dear Selectors, Mr.Azju should give a chance to play either as a captain or player I prefer as a captain. Thank you. Regards,

Prabhaker: prabaker@wiphyd.ge.com: Yes, He should be given another chance. He will come out of the lean patch if given another chance.

jaffer: jaffer_quadri@hotmail.com: sachin you are one of the most hated players of mine.so i will not wish on your appointment. if you think that you will succeed as a captain its just your imagination.so stepdown. your`s lovingly friend.

Rajender Raina: rajraina@emirates.net.ae: Yes, Azhar should be included in the team.

Padmanabh Raul: raulpk@indiatimes.com: We should persist with azar for some more time.

G.Selvakumar: gselvakumar@hotmail.com: YAY....

Shibabrata Mondal: shibabrata@mailcity.com: He was a better captain than he was a player, so......

Kumar: kthiagar@cisco.com: Yah Azhar should be definitely into the side.

Bilal Sultan: madco-media@sbm.net.sa: A BIG YAY! Azhar should be selected to play for atleast 2 more years or till it its made sure that he has indeed lost form. We can ill afford to lose such experience. He is one of the greatest players of modern cricket and we must make him last as much as possible. Sachin too can benefit from Azza's maturity & experience. We owe at least this mech to Azhar to beleive and accept his word that he is fit & still has got lots of cricket in him.

sanjay : sanjay_agg64@hotmail.com: yes

amit : amit_chitale@trintech.com: Dear Azhar, I do not remember any match few years ago that I did not watch for you. You were the role model and a Hero, a match winner. 'Twas like saying ,dont loose hopes azzu will take us thru, but you know honestly speaking you should your self say bye to cricket now. I am not saying we do not want to see you anymore , but what I am saying is we want a good cricketer like you to help our team in getting that cool head and ability to make good decisions. So please for your fans seck say no to your selections so that , we, your hardcore fans can be more proud of you.. Thank you Loads of Lov n' Luck, Amit

Shirish: achtung@ihug.co.nz: Stay, Azhar, Stay. Give us anothher summer with Azhar.

N.KARUNAKARAN: n_karan@hotmail.com: Azhar can retire on his own. He saved India many times, but now his age is not in his side so he can quit on his own. KARAN

Mohammed: mobbY@hotmail.com: I feel that he defintely deserves a place in the team.

Hemant Dugar: hdugar@md2.vsnl.net.in: Though I would hate to see such a great player go out, I think it is time he says good bye now and be remembered for years to come. It is always better to quit when you are almost at the top of your performance and you know the end is near.

Krishna: kmandyam@cisco.com: I feel Azhar has done enough to deserve a place in the Indian side. Now that he is no longer the captain of the side he can take up batting with less pressure. I wish him all the best and hope to see him play not only in Singapore but in Australia also

Ravindra Kammar: ravindra_k1@verifone.com: I strongly believe that Azhar should be in the team for at least one more tournment as a player, but not as a captain. It could be really fantastic, if Azhar guide his captaincy skills to Sachin on coming matches so that he can start thinking and playing in better ways on how to win a match. By doing so, following points can be achievable: 1. Azhar can come back into his stylish form. 2. Sachin will learn how to lead a team for victory as a captain with the help of Azhar. 3. Most important, Sachin can start playing in his usual incredible style being a captain. Once these things are achieved, then team will be in a terrific mood for victory.

Himanshu Desai: himanshu@bom6.vsnl.net.in: azhar shud be in the side and very rightly mentioned in the records by you, i sfirmly believe azhar has still got some more for the indian side. He is much better than 10 ajay Jadeja`s in india. He is quiet brilliant as a captain of the indian side. HE SHOULD BE THR IN THE INDIAN SQUAD.

sanjeev: essjay@gol.com: yay give him a chance
