Monsoon hits Mumbai

Mumbai city and suburbs received intermittent rains throughout the day on Tuesday. The Weather Bureau said Colaba recorded 6.8mm of rainfall and Santacruz 5.1 mm. Normal life was not affected due to the rains.

Monsoon rains are likely in a day or two, the weather bureau said. It has forecasted rain and thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds in parts of the city and the suburbs. There is possibility of heavy rains in some areas of the metropolis.

The maximum and minimum temperature in Mumbai will be 32 and 26 degree Celcius respectively, the weather bureau said.

The rain was a welcome respite for the city which is eagerly waiting for the delayed monsoon.

Traffic in the city was normal although the showers did cause some minor waterlogging in some parts of Mumbai.
