A walk on Dal Lake

Would you have ever thought of jogging on Kashmir's Dal Lake?

Or skipping?

Or playing cricket?

That's exactly what the children of Srinagar have been doing ever since the lake began to freeze over on early Wednesday, when temperatures dipped dipped below zero degrees Celsius.

Kashmir has been hit by the same cold wave sweeping north India. The first heavy snowfall in India's northernmost state has converted the picturesque Dal Lake into a giant chunk of ice.

The last time Kashmiri kids got a chance to play cricket or ice hockey on Dal Lake apparently was when the lake froze over 20 years ago in 1986.
