A circus conjures images of colourful clowns, mid-air acrobatic stunts, real tigers and elephants performing antics on stage.

Circuses in India are in the doldrums but those in Russia continue to thrive and entertain people all over the world.

This winter many Indian cities get a chance to watch the world-renowned 'Great Russian Circus', which will perform in Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Delhi. (In Kolkata, it is scheduled to have two shows every day from November 28 to December 17)
