Notice issued against Union minister, RJD MP

Last updated on: October 31, 2007 20:53 IST

The Bihar government on Wednesday issued notices to fifteen Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders including Union minister Akhilesh Prasad Singh and member of parliament Sadhu Yadav for organising shows which crossed the permitted deadline, a day before the party's mammoth chetawani rally in Patna. The notice also alleges that bar dancers participated in these shows and loud music was also played in them.

Bihar Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah said on Tuesday that 15 RJD leaders, who had violated the Patna high court order banning the use of loudspeakers after 10 pm, will be issued notices about the matter

"The police have also filed an FIR against them

and the participating artistes," Amanullah said.

Official sources in the police department said that notices were also issued against former ministers Shyam Rajak, Shakeel Ahmad Khan and Ram Chandra Purbe for violating the high court order.

However, Union minister Akhilesh Prasad Singh said that the action initiated against him and other RJD leaders showed that the success of the chetawani rally had caused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to panic.

Sadhu Yadav, the brother-in-law of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, said that the state government had taken the step due to political vendetta.
