The United States on Thursday delivered two 'Firefinder' counter-battery radars to the Indian Army as part of a $190 million Indo-US military sales agreement.
The shipment, which is part of the deal to supply 12 AN-TPQ/37 radars, arrived aboard a US Air Force C-17 aircraft, a US embassy spokesperson said.
The mobile radar system accurately locates enemy artillery and rocket weapon systems.
Delivery of the radars would be completed by September 2006. Operator and crew training for 16 Indian Army personnel on these radar systems began at California in April this year.
The spokesperson quoted US Ambassador Robert Blackwill as saying the Indo-US partnership on the 'Firefinder' radar 'marks a significant milestone in our burgeoning bilateral defence relationship'.
The deal on the supply of the radars was signed by Indian defence officials as part of the US foreign military sales process.
