Congress non-committal on Rahul as PM candidate

April 16, 2008 18:34 IST

After scotching speculation that Rahul Gandhi may be its prime ministerial candidate, the Congress on Wednesday remained non-committal on whether or not the young leader would don this role in the next Lok Sabha elections, saying no one knows what is in store in the future.

"No one knows what is in store in the future. All possibilities are hidden in the future," All India Congress Committee spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed told reporters in Delhi.

Ahmed was replying to a question on whether the AICC statement on Tuesday suggested that Rahul would not be a
probable candidate and that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would be projected for the top post.
