April 05, 2006 22:38 IST

Going out to bat for the India-United States nuclear deal, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice reiterated that it will strengthen international security and non-proliferation, besides advancing America's business opportunities. Nor will it fuel an arms race in the Indian subcontinent, she said.

  • No fear of arms race: Rice

Presenting her case before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday, she said America's past non-proliferation policies did not achieve their goal as they resulted in a more isolated India.
