Deve Gowda had met Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday to find a solution to the crisis.

Party Sources said Gowda will consult the party's district chiefs after the meeting with the rebels.

As no party had a majority after the 2004 assembly election, the Congress, with 64 seats, formed the government with the help of the JD-S.
