Pak boy held for masquerading as girl

December 30, 2003 14:37 IST

A Pakistani boy has been arrested in Riyadh for masquerading as a woman to meet a girl studying in the International Indian School.

In a bid to beat the Kingdom's strict gender segregation rules, the boy in a veil along with a friend posing as his 'husband' visited the school and asked to see a girl studying in 11th grade.

However, the security guards became suspicious as the 'husband' seemed too young and his veiled 'wife' appeared
too masculine.

When stopped by the guards, the 'husband' ran away, leaving the 'wife' to be unmasked by the school authorities, media reports said.

The boy later told the police that it was all a joke.
