BJP blames Congress for Parliament disruption

November 23, 2012 15:43 IST

With Parliament remaining paralysed for the second consecutive day on Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that the Congress was allowing "friendly parties" to disrupt the House as part of its strategy to defame the main opposition party.

"For the last two days, the House is getting adjourned not because of the BJP but because of BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) members going into the Well. This is a Congress strategy so that friendly parties go to the House, disturb the House and then they can defame the BJP," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters outside Parliament.

Rajya Sabha witnessed uproarious scenes for the second consecutive day on Friday as BSP members trooped in the Well, raising slogans in favour of reservation in promotions for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, leading to its adjournment.

"But people are watching and they know who is doing what," he said.

Demanding voting in the FDI issue, Javadekar said, "We want voting in the FDI motion and this is important in the light of the new revelation that United States government is inquiring into the allegations of whether Walmart has got access in India by paying bribes."

"If this is true that they are inquiring into it (charges), then this is becoming a big scam. That is why there is more need to discuss and have voting on it," he said.

Recalling that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance's decision on disinvestment of Balco was put to vote, he said, "Ten years ago, when Manmohan Singh had demanded a resolution on Balco entailing voting, (then prime minister Atal Bihari) Vajpayee had agreed to it. Why is the same Manmohan Singh not accepting the discussion under voting?"

The BJP spokesman accused the Congress of "playing havoc" with the parliamentary democracy system.
