Cold wave cripples normal life in Patna

January 23, 2003 12:39 IST

The cold wave in Bihar showed no signs of letting up with normal life in Patna disrupted by icy winds and heavy fog.

Roads wore a deserted look as people preferred to stay indoors.

A thick blanket of fog, which settled on Wednesday night and continued, had reduced visibility. The situation worsened on Thursday morning.

According to the meteorological office, Patna recorded a temperature of 2.9 degree Celsius on Thursday morning.

Patna had recorded a temperature of 2.3 degrees Celsius last week, the lowest in the last 26 years.

The cold wave in the state over the last 20 days has forced district officials to extend the closure of government-run and non-governmental schools for the fourth time till January 25.
